On September 1st the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2010 has been the stage for an international symposium on the state of the art of “sustainable architecture”. The conference which has seen the sponsorship and participation of the prestigious Tongji University and the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai has been conceived by Graniti Fiandre and Iris Ceramica.
To intervene has been some of the most important architects in Asia: Maki Fumihiko and Furuichi Tetsuo from Japan, Hwang Doojin from Korea, Vo Trong Nghia from Vietnam and Cui Kai from China. Among them there was, as a special guest, Massimo Roj, the only participant from Europe, and indicated as the person that for his experience represents the ideal bridge between the two Continents. Professor Zheng Shiling has moderated the conference.
Massimo Roj, Founder and Chairman of Progetto CMR, has been operated in China since 2002 and today Progetto CMR is the most important Italian architecture firm in China.
During his speech, Massimo Roj has indicated his neo-humanistic vision, his “inside out” design approach and the importance of the respect of tradition and local culture, in particular underlining the criteria to achieve sustainable urbanization. “Less ego, more eco” is the new motto for a green future, which means less private interests and more eco vision, more common goals.
The conference has been attended by Chinese and Italian authorities from all sectors of society.
